Use of word for THE - there are four!

Remember when stating the word for ‘a’ you need to be aware of whether the word you are referring to is masculine or feminine, singular or plural, as this will affect the word you choose.
Likewise, the word you choose for `the` will depend on whether the noun you are referring to is singular or plural, masculine or feminine.
Study the examples below carefully.
Examples
El libro – the book Masculine singular
La casa – the house Feminine singular
Los coches – the cars Masculine plural
Las botellas – the bottles Feminine plural
