Define: Color Schemes

A group of colors to harmonize your color choices. Start by defining MOOD in a room.

What are three common color schemes?

1) Monochromatic
2) Adjacent Scheme
3) Complimentary Scheme

What are the six characteristics of a monochromatic color scheme?

-Different values of hue
-uniform color palette
-hue as dominant and accent
-simple
-can be dull
-build around neutrals
*use in one room of the house.

What are the two characteristics of the adjacent color scheme?

-Beautiful compositions
-one predominate color
*want a cool mood? select blue for dominate color

Complimentary color scheme tips (3):

-Scheme must have predominate color. If used in equal balance, they will cancel each other out.
-Avoid pairing tint of one hue with shade of another in complimentary scheme
-Both colors should be intense or muted together.
