when the opposite of what you expect, happens -Like the Great Wall of China was build to protect and keep people out of China- but it did NOT, it brought more people there!
(verbal irony is often sarcasm, political irony is often called satire) think: little bitty girl, in the end, kills the big monster or goofy guy all along finally has the solution even the "experts" couldn't figure out, or the police station being robbed)
