Reflection
The bouncing of a wave off of a surface.
Refraction
When the speed of light changes as it transmits from one medium to another, which causes the direction of the light to change.
Transmission
The passage of a wave through a medium. Mechanical waves can move through liquids and gasses.
Absorption
The transfer of energy by a wave to the medium through which it travels.
Translucent
When a material allows most of the light to pass through it and objects can appear blurry when looking through it.
Transparent
When a material allows almost all of the light to pass through it and objects can be seen clearly through it.
Opaque
When a material absorbs most of the light that hits it and objects cannot be seen through it
Prism
A 3-dimensional shape that has 2 identical shapes facing each other.
Plane Mirror
A flat reflective surface that can reflect light and is used to identify an incident ray and reflected ray.
Convex Lens
A lens that refracts light inwards because of its shape. This lens is thin on the edges and thick in the middle.
